Our Church Vision Statement

Minister

Our pastor is the Reverend Laurie DeMott.  Laurie graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in Biology and from Colgate Rochester Divinity School/Bexley Hall/Crozer Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity.  She began her ministry with the Union University Church in 1983 bringing an unusual blend of biblical exegesis, science, and fondness for dog stories to the pulpit.  In 1999, Alfred University awarded her with an honorary doctorate for her ministry in the community and her work as the University's part-time Interfaith Advisor.

Administrative Secretary

Betsy Kent is our Church Secretary and as such, is the prime mover in all church operations.  She is in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. during which time she courteously greets all visitors, organizes the congregation, solves problems, soothes troubled waters, and generally keeps the church going.

Frequently our congregation is treated to a gospel swing piece to conclude worship with Peter on piano and Vern Burdick, a member of the congregation, on guitar. In addition to his work at the church, Peter also accompanies dance classes at Alfred University and teaches private piano

Our organist is Laurel Buckwalter. Laurel has a Bachelor of Music in piano, a Master of Science in Education and Carillonneur certification with the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America.
