Church Staff

Minister

Our pastor is the Reverend Laurie DeMott.  Laurie graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a degree in Biology and from Colgate Rochester Divinity School/Bexley Hall/Crozer Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity.  She began her ministry with the Union University Church in 1983 bringing an unusual blend of biblical exegesis, science, and fondness for dog stories to the pulpit.  In 1999, Alfred University awarded her with an honorary doctorate for her ministry in the community and her work as the University's part-time Interfaith Advisor.

Administrative Secretary

Carol Dickey is our Church Secretary and as such, is the prime mover in all church operations.  She is in the office on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. during which time she courteously greets all visitors, organizes the church pastor, solves problems, soothes troubled waters, and generally keeps the gospel going.

Accompanist

Our pianist/organist is Peter O'Conner.  Peter has a Master's Degree in Keyboard and specializes in jazz piano.  Frequently our congregation is treated to a gospel swing piece to conclude worship with Peter on piano, Barrett Potter on trumpet, and Vern Burdick on guitar.

Executive Office of Physical Maintenance

Mary Ormsby has been a life-long member of the Union University Church and, with assistance from her son Tim, keeps the Church Center orderly and clean so that the many groups which meet here may better enjoy the use of our facililities.
